I want all Van Horn residents to breathe a breath of fresh air and be satisfied with their quality of life including:

• Accessible Healthcare
• Family oriented community with outdoor recreational space for both adults and children to enjoy our beautiful desert views
• Educational opportunities
• Employment opportunities

When elected Mayor of Van Horn, I won't pass by any opportunities to improve our peaceful neighborhoods. I will welcome and encourage all people to bring their voice and ideas to our town. My open mind, combined with my broad government knowledge will facilitate making the peoples goals for Van Horn, a reality.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & INFRASTRUCTURE

Let's create a climate where local businesses can thrive! As Mayor, I intend to work hand-in-hand with the Van Horn Economic Development Corporation which has been stagnant for almost two years to strengthen our town’s economy. I will do this by making sure local businesses have the tools necessary to open up shop and stay competitive. One of the most critical needs for economic development to succeed is maintaining our infrastructure. When I am elected Mayor of Van Horn, I will work on the following:

• Maintaining paved streets on time
• Maintaining and upgrading the water system before a critical need arises
• Facilitate solutions for sewage and garbage needs
• Work with interested business to set up shop in our town 
• Finds ways to pay for beautifying our main street in order to create a welcome atmosphere and increase tourist traffic
• Work to develop a much needed housing market for our area so Van Horn can accommodate new growth from businesses and welcome families to move here at the same time!

community first

As your Mayor, I pledge to help local leaders cooperate with each other and stretch our tax dollars for the betterment of our community. To spend money efficiently, it's imperative we improve working relationships among all local taxing entities and facilitate cooperation with our non-profit service groups in order to put the needs of the community first.  I will make sure our local tax dollars are used to leverage grant assistance and promise full transparency in local government so that all citizens can see what the elected officials are doing and how our tax dollars are being spent.

A Message From Becky

My run for Mayor of Van Horn comes after a long history of roles I've played in the community. You might remember me from my days as City Administrator, you may have worked with me to build homes and upgrade community facilities and infrastructure or you may know me through one of my roles in local organizations.

My website will tell you all that I've accomplished, but it doesn't tell you why. To keep it simple, I love our town. I spend most of time doing things that better our community and although I do travel in and out of town, it's never stopped me from reaching my goals. I've always lent a helping hand and found a way to make Van Horn's goals a reality. 

After learning about my contributions, I kindly ask for your vote during Early Voting is October 13-30, 2020 and Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
